Charter arms was established by a renown gunsman previously working for Colt, High Standard and Sturm Ruger,  Douglas McClenahan established the Charter Arms Company in 1964, in Stratford. The took on manufacturing revolvers. The most popular revolvers are .38 Special Bulldog Pug and .44 Special Bulldog. The history of the company has also it’s downsides, Charter Arms went bankrupt two times. The second time it hit zero, it entered an agreement with the MKS supply, that took care of marketing, sales and distribution. In 2008, the Charter Arms introduced new “Patriot” revolver that was available in 2.2” and 4” barrel, chambered in .327 Federal Magnum, but this revolver model is no longer listed under the official products category/list.

Since 2010, the Charter Arms handles the sales, marketing, and distribution again by themselves and it’s on the right way this time.
